That is why in 1978 the Sheriffs created the first Florida Sheriffs’ self-insurance program. Due to the great success, in 2016 Sheriffs expanded membership to the other Constitutional Offices. Safe Driver Challenge
The Safe Driver Challenge is designed to raise awareness about the serious and potentially fatal consequences of unsafe driving within sheriff’s offices. Created in response to a rise in at-fault and preventable crashes, the initiative focuses on addressing the root causes of these incidents—unsafe speeds, distracted driving, tailgating and improper backing.
